Yesterday, Prince George was presented with the very first baby baggy at the iconic Sydney Opera house. Produced by Albion Hat and Cap Co. this customized cap for the junior royal was crafted to help celebrate the upcoming 2015 Cricket World Cup.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in Australia to help launch the 2015 Cricket World Cup. The Royal family attended a special event in Sydney on Wednesday the 16th of April to showcase the tournament and it’s participating nations. They were met by Australian greats Glenn McGrath and Ellyse Perry as well as the CEO of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 CEO John Harnden and Cricket Australia Director Michael Kasprowicz.
The ‘Baby Baggy’ presented to Prince George is a first of its kind. The cap is made in Australia using traditional hand crafted cap making techniques by the same master seamstress who crafts the Baggy Green™ cap for the Australian cricket team. The cap is custom made for Prince George, with ‘HRH Prince George’ text embroidered on the back panel in white, with the Cricket Australia logo presented on the front panel.
Brendan Denning, CEO and Managing Director of the Albion Hat and Cap Co stated, “We’re very proud to have been asked to make a special edition baggy cap for Prince George.
Fortunately he’s young enough to not recall how the English fared in the most recent Ashes series, but I’m sure he’ll be a cricket fan for many decades to come regardless, given this unique memento of his first trip to Australia. We’d love to see Australian parents show their support of cricket by having their own baggy made for their children – my three sons hardly ever take theirs off!”
The cap is 40-42cm in circumference, which sits comfortable for the 0-12 month old, and provides an elastic stretch at the back to ensure there is some room for the growing infant.
The ‘Baby Baggy’ is available to purchase online for a limited time for $34.95 (including GST) at the Albion Hat & Cap Co. Store in different styles and colours.
